The third and final instalment in the Armageddon trilogy has come to pass. Bringing an end to the journey’s of Rex Mundi and Elvis Presley. But as those depart (not till the end of the book, so don’t worry) another hero is here to take there place. Lazlo Woodbine, the detectives, detective is on the case for his first outing in a Rankin novel. Of course all of you will have read P.P. Penrose’s classics featuring the case solving sleuth. A detective so confident of his skills that he needs only ever work four locations. His office, a bar where he can talk a load of old toot, an alleyway and a roof top for the final roof top showdown. Rex Mundi has turned into a sex crazed, drug addict with a game show. But how could this happen? Does it have anything to do with Jonathan Crawford? And will Lazlo be able to sort it all out before page 314? And what about the huge bomb? So many questions and yet so few answers. The Suburban Book of the dead is a fine send-off for a fine trilogy.
