To be fair, to anybody outside of a given radius there's probably not a lot of difference, and it probably saved him having to distinguish to the masses.

Well, it depends really.

If you want to be really specific, I'm in a small town called Whickham, which is on the outskirts of Gateshead, and does indeed come under the control of Gateshead Council.

BUT - my postal address is Newcastle-upon-Tyne, because of the way the Royal Mail divided things up way back when (i.e. with absolutely no consideration for things like councils). Before Gateshead Council was formed in the 70's, Whickham had its own Parish Council, that was a subsidiary of Durham County Council.

So fner. With knobs on! Tongue

(See, no locked thread - I can take it!)

I'm sure I read somewhere that 'fner' is defined as the sound a man makes when engaged in activities with his head between the thighs of a woman...

It is. Definately.

Unless the chap is the expectant father, in which case it's "Holy #### I can see its head"

Absolutely - often followed by "I knew there was a reason I wanted to stay up the other end!"

Incidentally, if the words "Holy #### I can see its head" are hear from anyone else, such as the midwife, you should be worried.
