Alas I wont be there.

On account of being 100 miles away in an office that doesn't close until 17:00

My car is fast.

But not that fast.

My bosses idea of an early finish is 16:45.

I'd be lucky right now if I don't end up working late.

I think that "FEW" is probably the word, Billy. Although I live as ever in hope that one day they will see fit to bung me an award!!!!

I wonder if Robert would be so kind as to attend a brief signing in our local bookshop in sleepy Cheshire. Steve, our bookshop proprietor is always on the lookout for champion publicity and he does a good line in shop front display. Their coffee shop is well good too. Home made toffee fudge cake and various bacon and brie panini's of the type, whilst lounging around on leather chesterfields in a traditional and wholly original Elizabethan shop.
Not that I go there for my lunch very often, but it would certainly put those noses out of joint in the big chains of Crewe, who always get the famous names.

Just a thought...and I would certainly attend...and buy the book, possibly... Very Happy

G

I'm certainly up for that in July. So give me all the details.I'm trying to put together a tour of independent shops, so if anyone else out there knows of somewhere that's keen and can put enough advertising out to draw in some buyers, please let me know.

Blimey, and I was being a cheeky git for the fun of it. If you're fine with that, I'll batter Steve over the head with a book or two of yours, clear his head, and give him the chance to sweep the shop.
Details will be forthcoming in one o them little personal message things on here. I'll ensure he lays on a slap up feed too. And I'll be there, in human form of course.

Ta Boss, get back to you on that one, sharpish.

Nice town, nice bookshop, opposite WH Smiths, so they'll be pissed.

If you come to Cheshire, don't forget to let me know where you are Smile My son's a fan too, so I'm sure I can "persuade" him to drive his mummy to see you Grin

... sounds like you're going to have yourself a busy 2008 Robert! I am currently eagerly awaiting my flight back to London for the FP signing/launch... not looking forward to the jet lag though!

Just had me Mercury, says I've got to renew...fair enough.
James, and anybody else, we should put a spot about the forum in the BM, just to tie everything in, y'know 'best thread this quarter,' that sort of thing. 'Newbie page'. something you can fish out and quote, dare i say, 'pad' the pages with more bunkum. Those poor souls out there with membership who have no broadband access should be kept in the loop....and lets not forget how many successful events we, or you, get put together as a result of all this blathering. Finally, there is Robert Rankin, the reason,or excuse, we have for posting, who now jumps in with the odd and ever more frequent comment. Just a thought. Bring the Mercury into the 21st Century, although I like reading it the way it is, in English.
