James has asked me to post this...........
Dear New, current, old and prospective Members,
no doubt you are wondering what the hell is going on, and where your
Mercury is.
Well the truth is the mercury has been ready since September, but we've
been waiting to give you all
some news before going to press. In retrospect we should have just
published and done another issue,
but we never realised how some things would get so protracted.
We got lead up a garden path, badly, changed plans about 4 times and
generally its been a bit hellish,
but we are getting it sorted and most importantly its gotten easier, we
think and are nearly there.
The mercury is a very important part of your membership, but equally are
the events and signings and
fringe conventions that the club run, plan and arrange that provides a
social interaction between fans and authour.
Namely Robert Rankin.
We need to get next year right, and we are on the cusp of finalising our
plans.
I hope we go to press on Wednesday, if everything goes well and have
your merc in the post on Thursday.
Members will hear about our plans in the mercury and as soon as they do,
we will launch news and such online.
but some dates for your diary, which will be confirmed in the Mercury.
14th February - audio release of Brightonomicon.
11th July - TBC
c. 5th September - TBC
then also, in 2009 we have a number of BIG plans. One event worth
thinking about is LX 2009.
This is a big science fiction convention and Robert is already going, na
dits well worth considering.
More info on www.LX2009.com and as a reminder, the price increases at
the end of this week,
so join online now to save some money in the long run. (its currently
£40 for 4 days or £20 support)
The merc is a good issue, we have a lot of writings from Robert and
Rayguns wedding and our usual eclectic mix.
again, apologies, we just hope its worth the wait and ye all make the
effort to join up to our events and get involved with
whatever madness we get up to and we hope you don't mind too much, and
that the result will be worth it.
Remember no matter what the frequency, membership is 4 issues and that's
what you will get.*
James on behalf of Sproutlore and Stef on behalf of events.
* Sproutlore begain in 1993 and is now running 14 years since October
1993 and we are only on issue 47, so
there is always a bit of slippage. _________________ Who are you? Why am I here? I want answers now or I want them eventually!

A good excuse for you both to tell lots of lovely Americans to buy the series via the interweb, or via BBC Shops...exciting times for Robert fans worldwide! _________________ THE BRIGHTONOMICON AUDIO SERIES now available:

And even more oddly I will be in the UK for the most of the rest of the time!
Except New Year (Brussels), Pete's Birthday (Spa, Belgium) and Easter (Berlin).
Not forgetting the original New York in Feb. _________________ "In the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king" - Geert Geerts |
