I know it's a long shot as most of you here don't drink, but I have heard a rumour that some of you like a drop of real ale Laughing
The Great British Beer Festival is running the first week of August and this includes the friday before the toyminator signing gig.
If any of you are in town that night and fancy a pint why not come along? Let me know and we can all meet up Thumbs Up

Now your talking my language Ian.

Was considering going along to this but there is a problem (there always is isn't there).

I can leave Derby at 5ish on Fri eve, but by the time we travel down, park up & get to Earls court it'll probably be a bit late. Especially as it's quite expencive to get in (even as a CAMRA member)

Also I was kinda hoping the Sproutlore event would be an evening affair, givein me the chance to do the Beer Fest in morning/afternoon. But the Sproutlote doo runs 12-12.

Still I'm open to suggestions.....

When did you have in mind Ian, may be I can get off work at 4?

If your'e on the road by 5ish you could probably be there by 8-9ish. Still time to sample a few Laughing

This plan sounds very interesting and I'm going to give it careful consideration. Mmmm Beer.

Where were people planning to stay Friday night if they do go to the beer festival?

This is more likely a yes than a no at the moment for Friday night. Hope to be getting into London about 6pm and planning to get to Earls court by 7.30 ish.

I will be stopping at Neil's place, he's the tall guy (about as tall as Otto but not as scary looking).

Failing that will be at the Sproutlore thinga-me-bob around midday on the Saturday.

But where to meet, eh? Y'all *do* realise that there'll be like 5,000 people in there?

I suggest posting mobile phone numbers & using them to contact one another. Fixed places will be hard to arrange.

I'm on 07939 087884.

Liam I think you're very brave posting your moby number up. We usually get a list of moby numbers together before an event where on person volunteers to be the collector everyone emails their number to that person then that person emails a list of everyones numbers out. So to get the numbers you have to give one is the deal. Ive done it the last few times but I'm not going to this time as a) Im not going, which wouldn't usually stop me but b)I'm moving house tomorrow and wont have any internet for a wee while.

Don't worry Stacey - I'm sure the nutters off the internet can't be any stranger than the nutters who phone him up anyway....

.... hang on a second. That's me.

@Stacey:

Oh, relax! Everything on the Internet is public and it's all public info anyway. Everything on your computer's public too unless you're both a computer expert and very paranoid. (I *am* a computer expert & I don't bother encrypting everything.) If you are curious, my bank account number is 82509199. Without my password, PIN or a signature, that's not going to get you very far, either.

The only people who go around using false names and trying to hide their identity - or advocating doing this - are those who don't really understand how the system works. Anything you say, anything you do, anything you send, is directly traceable to you anyway. Not putting your name on it doesn't inconvenience anyone in the slightest. Your full name, address and so on are on the publically-accessible electoral roll anyway, and that can be found on the Internet too.

I'll be attending with Ian and should get to the festival about 5 ish. Anyone who wants to meet up may want to email Ian with their phone number by clicking the email tab at the bottom of his first post and i will text him to tell him to read his emails tonight.
