Today is the Anniversary of my first ever Sproutlore forum meet - an unofficial little gathering in Glasgow known as KILT.con.

It was there that I met fellow Sprouts for the the first time - Darren, Kirsty, Andi, Julia, Siobhan, Drew, and a chap called Mark who was never heard from again.

So, Happy Anniversary folks - I'm glad I made the effort, because I'm now honoured to have you all as friends (except that Mark chap - I think we must have scared him off).

It seems like such a long time ago, but you know what? It was only THREE YEARS ago. Yep, 21st June 2003. We've come a long way since then - and I wouldn't know half the good people I know now if it hadn't been for that first meet.

So let this be a lesson to all the folks out there who have never been to a Sproutlore event - it only takes that first step, and before you know it you've made a whole bunch of new friends.

Cheers all! Thumbs Up

Last month was my fourth year as member of sproutlore forum. I discovered Sproutlore and the forum about a week after Damn Fine Convention had been and gone. So, 9 September will mark four entire years since I first met other sproutlorians in person - the poor basts.

10 stone lighter then and and so drunk I'd earlier slid out of a chair.

I would have been there, as Glasgow is just an hour away, but I was only 16 Laughing

Was thinking about this last night....

If I hadn't gone to KILT.con, then Siobhan would probably not have come to Newcastle to the book signing a few weeks later. If she hadn't come, I probably wouldn't have gone to the pub afterwards, where I got to know Stacey and Kelly. If that hadn't happened, Stacey probably wouldn't have got so involved in the forum, and therefore probably wouldn't have come to the first Large event the following January.... and so on and so on - the ultimate upshot of this being that Stacey probably would not be now having Sexy Pete's baby!

Phew. Mindboggling or what?

I know, I worked out that chain of reasoning myself a bit ago but at that point it hadn't got to Stacey being pregnant. Had there been a signing for WoC in Glasgow or Edinburgh a lot of that may never have happened. Only 3 years? We have indeed come a long way.

The Quality hotel in Glasgow in the train station is lovely and very reasonable, and has a swimming pool. I'm going up in septmeber for my best friends hen night, the daft bint is marrying my brother, I worry about her sanity.

Cool - although anywhere would be better than the "extremely cheap but we haven't got a clue how to run a" hostel that we stayed in last time.... Smile

I mean, I had to share with Darren!

Mind you, it did mean that we got to know each other *very* well..... Grin

My first sprout event would have been some six and a bit years ago now, with seven cluttering up the sproutnet. How things have changed. Lots of lovely new people though, which is a perk.
