Well now I am 19weeks pregnant and getting very fat. Yesterday i heard the babys heartbeat for the first time and I don't mind admitting I had a few tears. I managed to record it on my mobile phone - without Gaz being there to help me with the scary technology - so I could send it to Sexy Pete. So it appears all is going well, next week is scan week, hurrah.

Awww, that is so sweet. Don't suppose there's any chance we can get you to post a picture from the scan on here, is there? I'd love to see it.

thanks everyone! Scan photos is a problem just cos I don't have a scanner. Some hospitals apparantly will email you your scan photos, how cool is that! I doubt very much my hospital is one of them though.

Billy - we have been thinking of a few names, the first thing Alice said when I told her about the baby was "and if its a girl can we call it Ginger" I said no. Petes youngest son came up with some real blinders as well so that will teach me to ask the children. Saying that my dad texted me yesterday saying "have you thought about either Mitchell or Elvis?" He was sent to the corner with the children!

Stace - don't be tempted to scan or photocopy your scan photo. Scan photos are usually printed on thermal paper, and the intense light from a scanner or photocopier can completely ruin the original photo, making it darker or even turning it completely black.

Your best bet is to lay it flat on a table and use a digital camera to take a photo of the photo - takes a bit of doing to get it right, but that's what I did with ours and it worked fine in the end. Just got to get the angle right, but that's true of so much in life I think.... Wink

Luckily the nice lady who did our first scan told us, coz my first comment was "I'm gonna scan that as soon as we get home and email it to everyone" - although if I hadn't said it she probably wouldn't have told us.

Some hospitals will give you a CD with the photos on, but I think you have to ask in advance and pay for them. A friend of mine paid £400 for one of those 4D scans, where you get a DVD showing a full 3D moving scan - expensive but he reckons worth every penny.
