If Terry Gilliam owes anyone a few quid, I think it would be a good idea to waive the said monies, and in return get the legend to give the antipope the silver screen treatment. Or If you think this is not the book to be given the hollywood treat, then what do you think would be?

I was just thinking something similar last night/this morning. Couldn't sleep with all these wierd thoughts running through my head. Like which book if made into a film would be more marketable.

I came up with the conclusion that Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Of The Apocolypse would probably be the best. I mean who wouldn't want to go see a film with that title?

I can just imagine the marketing slogan.

One man, a bear and a Transforming War Action Tank! Laughing

lol, ever thought of going into marketing m8. I did think of the hollow chocolate bunnies, but that's just because it's by far my favorite Rankin book. But as is always the way the movie never lives up to the book (hitchikers guide). But my thought is that the movie world needs characters like Eddie bear, Norman Hartnell, the Campbell and Archroy the intrepid. I was just a bit dissapointed to hear that Terry Gilliam was only 1 million dollars shy of producing Good Omens (bloody funny book). But maybe one day we will see Pooley and O'Malley gracing the big screen, which gives me an idea for a bit of a poll type thing. Who would play your favorite character from a Robert Rankin novell?.

Answers on a postcard.

Bill Bailey as Hugo Rune Grin

He'd be able to fill the part so well Smile

Since this kind of conversation happens all the time, there's a thread for it in the Sproutmaster section.

I always thought Joss Ackland would be a wonderful Hugo

As for Pooley and Omally, Brenden Gleeson (MadEyed Moody) as Omally and Phil Daniels as Jim Pooley

Lovely

Please all, if you wish to discuss who should play who in a film of Rankin's work, please do so on the thread created explicitly for the purpose in the appropriate section.

If it's all on the one thread then it's easy find and easy to see how - if at all - people's ideas have changed... Rather than having lots of threads lost to the mysts of backlog.
Sadly, there isn't alot on that thread at the moment.

I thought we could talk freely here!

I might just take a leaf out of Niv and Talie's book yet.

You can talk freely here, but I was making a request, that stuff that's on topic should be in the on-topic sections, thus enabling the casual passer-by to easily find rankin related content.

Yet it seems to me in making it easier for the 'casual passer by' we have lost 'hardcore' posters.

Can't be a coinkydink now, can it?

Do we know that? Has anyone actually been in touch with the missing? Ultimately it's down to people using the forum to shape what the atmosphere is like...

*runs away....*

I think that Nivs not here because his computer is broken, for want of an appropriately coarse way of putting it.... Can't speak for anyone else

Yep Nivens computer is broken and Daz is busy at work and moving and stuff.

Lisa this particular bugbear is mine. I got very fed up of this same question being asked over and over in the old forum which lead to people turning the thread into sillyness which is fine but does put of the newbies who started the thread in the first place. Therefore when James was setting up the forum I asked him to set up a particular thread for this so that it is all in the same place so the same question isn't asked over and over.

I really fail to understand why this is so very unreasonable.
