What a bag o shite. I am so utterly disappointed by this. Phoenix a baddie and killing Charles Xavier eh?? I'm sure this only happened to give Halle Berry more screen time. What was the point of introducing Angel? Making Rogue "normal"????? WTF? Also who the F is Kitty and how did she come to be in the big fight at the end after just a little ice skating?

But mostly how are the Xmen any better then Magnetos brotherhood if they stuck him with the cure? How morally does that work?

I'm so disappointed and frustrated. Dont get me started about how Storm could suddenly fight the girl whos name I forgotten when she got her arse totally kicked in an earlier fight - with NO explaination to how she could suddenly see her.

Also Famke Jassen, a fabulous actress and beautiful lady and all she was given to do in this whole film was stand looking sad and having the wind blow her hair about a bit - rubbish, rubbish I tell you.

I saw it on Friday, and was similarly unimpressed,

> But mostly how are the Xmen any better then Magnetos brotherhood if they stuck him with the cure? How morally does that work?

That was one of our big irks too - surely they should have looked at it then dismissed it and just knocked him unconcious? Other key issues were "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" and all sorts of other wrongness. Throw out the entire script and start again.

> Also who the F is Kitty and how did she come to be in the big fight at the end after just a little ice skating?

Technically the character was in the second one too - "I know a girl that can walk through walls" or whatever was said at the end of the second one. Different actress for that film though. I assume we're just to expect she grew as part of the team between films.

kitty pryde - been in the comics for years and moved in and out of the main team line up many a time.
I have to agree that when it comes to following the comics and the characters the film did miss the point entirely, the script was piss poor and with the exceptions of magneto, wolverine and xaviar so was the acting - however, as I went to see it late on Sunday night after a day of drinking I found it enjoyable hokum Laughing

You're a brave man, starting the "following the comics" train of discussion.

I'm not qualified to speak about said film, not seen any of the others or read the comics. Haven't read the Da Vinci code either but ended up going to see that yesterday. Some people take things too seriously, it wasn't bad at all. A further upside to it was that the missus ended up having a dream about Paris in the night so we had pancakes for breakfast.

After a great ending to XMen 2 with everyone awaiting the arrival of Phoenix and her eventual transformation into Dark Phoenix i was very dissapointed that she was left standing in the background while we had to sit through another Magneto story. Where was Dark Phoenix with all her power? A mutant capable of snuffing out the sun, stopped in the end by Wolverine and a little bit of smaltzy love. They may as well have got the bald kid to walk up to her and hold her hand so her powers wouldn't work and then put the end credits up.

This should have been a dark phoenix spectacular with a great opertunity to include a cross over with another team such as the Avengers and then introduce the Centinals at the end of this film with another big fight to look forward to in the next film.

I can only imagine they wanted to give Magneto the stage just incase he pops his clogs before the next film.

I was rather glad that the centinels were confined to the training simulation.

Stuffing Magneto with Cure when he's become 2-d fascist - tolerable, almost poetic justice really for a man that would turn people into mutants against their will and then try to annihlate humanity. The fact that he's completely 2-d a seperate issue.

But yes a weak script and huge let down. Not only did it fail to deliver on the promise shown by the first sequel, being better than the original film. It also failed to deliver on the scope of what it claimed to be about and all the real world issues that the themes would be allegorical of.

To continue with the train of though...I thought it was shite too.
Generally I'm really easy to please when it comes to action films, I don't look for depth in a movie or in my women, but that's another matter that you're not allowed to tell Cherly about Wink I wanted to see an enjoyable 'romp' into the world of The X-Men but found it a rather slow film, poorly acted for the most part, and like other people have pointed out, full of holes and inappropriate use of characters.

On the subject of The DaVinci Code, I saw that recently as well, and while it wasn't the best film in the world, it wasn't as bad as the critics have been saying, and as for Tom Hanks's hair, I can't see what all the fuss is about? (Mind you my hairs grown a bit and looks remarkably similar at the moment to Mr Hanks's wonderful bouffant) Laughing

Anyway that concludes my one post for the month, I'm off, this job is getting me down, I have to work for my money and am trying to do 10,000 words worth or research for a week Sunday Crying or Very sad

Hope everyone's well in Sproutland Smile

Well but missing you. I wish you'd post more often.

I haven't seen either film, but I will say one thing about Tom Hanks' hair. When I first caught sight of the film poster on IMDB, I thought it was a new Steven Seagal film. And that, my friends, is bad hair.

Daz my dove - you are realy not about enough!

As for XMen 3 - I avoid most films with a number at the end.Sequels in my opinion are rarely anything to write home about. It's all about making pennies not about making good films I guess.

Well I've managed to return less than 24 hours later, so probably as my deadlines loom, I'll spend more time here avoiding doing the work, currently my work schedule is 1,000 words per day, when I get down to that per hour I'll maybe put the effort in Laughing

That doesn't just apply to sequels...

Random > That doesn't just apply to sequels... <

Quite true.

Well one good thing that can be said about X-men 3 is that it wasn't as vacuous and predictable as MI:3. Not that's really saying an awful lot.
Let's hope Pirates of the Carribean is an enjoyable romp, eh?

It's like saying "having ebola isn't as bad as..."
