Well if it's stuff like Rankin, Pratchett & Fforde he reads, maybe try some books by Tom Holt? Or Making History by Stephen Fry?
Stross' Halting State could be a bit heavy if he's not massively into computers _________________ Just Have Fun

I think a friend sent him up the Stephen Fry on the other night.
Anyways - he has E-coli in his liver.. He is having a wee camera sent into his digestive system to see what has caused it. Possbly a gallstone or something.
Will pass on your good wishes. |

Some other (obvious) suggestions:
The Hitch-Hickers Guide to the Galaxy & Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams.
The Red Dwarf novels by Rob Grant &/or Doug Naylor
Colony by Rob Grant is also pretty good _________________ Just Have Fun |

I bought him this and he is enjoying it! So thank you
Currently they just plan to administer 3 types of anti biotics and see if that kills the infection. otherwise I think they will be trying a different cocktail. |

I wish him luck with the treatment.
If that does fail and they want to try a different cocktail, I'd recommend a caipirinha. _________________ |

Very to hear this. Hope for a speedy and full recovery.
Here are some books that aren't specifically humour, but appeal to the same part of my brain as Rankin does...
- Vurt by Jeff Noon
- Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith
- The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers
- Cryptonomicon by Neal Stevenson (oops, I was almost going to say Gardiner there)
- British Summer Time by Paul Cornell (just been reading this week, only half way through, thoroughly enjoying)
Get well soon!

If they know Deep Black they are doing the usual and treating everyone like mushrooms.
Even the nurses don't know anything! He had his CT scan....and the results won't be in until Monday at the earliest. He is now on normal anti biotics and is otherwise doing well....if alot skinnier than when he went in.
He is now making his way thru the rest of Kathy Reichs books. I told him it was a bit of an extreme thing to do just to get all of them.
Just desperate to get home now.
Thanks for the list of those books. Will ask him when I go see him tomorrow |

Hiya folks!
Sorry for the delay in updating this. I finally got out of hospital with 23 days to go to our wedding so myself and my good lady were very busy trying to get all our wedding preparations finalised.
Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes and book recommendations
I am getting better and stronger each day.
Myself and my good lady were married on Frigs day 26th June and are currently on our honeymoon We have found a place with net access and have been looking at photos of the wedding taken by friends as we are waiting for our own photos and video, which we may not see for another week or so. For those of you on my facebook I'll try and get some photos up as soon as I can. _________________ The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
