Anyone watching the new episodes on Dave?

Not a bad start. I reckon it'll work better as the hour & half show on Mon eve.

Yeah I watched it with my wife. Whilst it wasnt as laugh out loud funny as the first series it was still a pretty good return to the show. There were some really good gags and some great moments. I hope it stays as good or improves. It would be a shame to watch it decline.

I thought it was a bit of a slow start, some of the dialogue seemed a bit stilted and under rehearsed, but the writing was good, and some of the scenes captured the original quality of the series. Maybe it's just me but RD seems to work much better when it's just a bunch of guys in a room talking, they don't need those vast CGI sets.

Anyway, by the time "To be continued" came up I was wishing they'd showed the whole thing as a feature length episode, so looking forward to the rest of it.

Well, I won't go as far as to say it was rubbish, coz these things are subjective and there was some great bits of writing and some lovely touches, but the way the storyline is going just leaves me thinking "HUH? Why why why are they doing this?". I'll still watch part 3 tonight anyway.

Well.... just watched episode three. All in all I have enjoyed it. I would say that the over all story was not too bad, if a tad weird at first glance. Once again I would say this, Its not perfect, but it is Red Dwarf and its nice to see it back. Maybe we'll get some more in the future.

Well, I thought part 3 was the best of the 3, but it still didn't really do it for me overall.

Essentially we had a Bladerunner rip-off that openly admitted to being such, and they used the old "It was all a dream / virtual reality game / squid induced hallucination" trick to make it all OK in the end.

I'm left feeling kinda glad that they did something new, but wishing they made a bit more of the opportunity.

Holy shit, I'm glad Loz refused to watch this and therefore I still haven't, although I have it recorded. I want it to be good although the last two series were unutterable shite. When I was about 12, my English teacher mercilessly crucified me in class for using the "it was all a dream" motif in a piece of creative writing. At the time I thought she was being unnecessarily cruel, but I now realise it was a lesson worth learning. I shall just remove it from my hard disK before subjecting myself to it now.

Tim, I'd hate to think that my own opinions stopped someone from watching something they might enjoy - I very much encourage you (and anyone else who is/was an RD fan) to watch it and decide for yourself!

I'd never refuse point blank to watch something I'd been looking forward to just because someone else didn't like it, so I'd hate anyone else to do the same.

The writing was generally good, and there were some nice touches, like the Cat's origami squid, but it just didn't work for me - I think it would have worked better if condensed down to a single 30 minute episode, but then it would suffer from being very similar to other episodes..... I just think that when they had an opportunity to do a 3 parter like this, that they could have done something a bit, well, more spectacular.
