An odd thing has occurred. I ordered "Necrophenia" from the library, it didn't come in for ages, so I went to order it again, only to find it had inexplicably disappeared from the library records, to be replaced with "Tick Tock Kill the Clock," so I thought "alrighty" and ordered "Tick Tock Kill the Clock," which has just come in and I have collected itů only it's "Necrophenia"!

Wozgoinonerethen?! Confused

"Tick Tock Kill the Clock" was the original title, but along the way it was renamed.

Many many others, I wonder whether there is an alternative universe where they all came out.
Perhaps I'm really rich there.

Ooh! ooh! ooh!

I've already asked this elsewhere, but it was in the middle of a huge rambling essay, so may get missed.

I read a book many years ago which I thought was called The Magic Ocarina which had a running gag about hitler being cloned and tried for war crimes and getting a few days community service.

I've since refound the book and it's the Book of Ultimate Truths but the hitler gag is missing.

Did I confuse 2 books or just go bonkers or did something odd really happen?

Hitler was in Nostradamus AMH, but I don't recall the cloning bit at all, I think you've either confused it with another book, or made it up in your head (in which case, write it down, coz it sounds good!).

Is there an official list of the alternative titles for your books Robert? Prehaps you could do a little article in the next magazine and give us a taste of any artwork for covers that were rejected by those holders of 5 GCSE's, more commonly known as publishers.

Comics tend to do a lot of variant covers for reprints prehaps your publishers could do the same for your books (although I probably know the awnser to that one already).

I think its about high time you published one of those big coffe table books full of high gloss prints of your fabulous artworks. It would have been great if the Museum had been able to afford to print a small catelogue for your exhibition.

I know it's not the hitler from Nostrodamus, he was on the flugelrad and off to arrive after the war.

It was a running gag where the main story in the book was going on, but every now and then someone would go into a room where the TV was on and they'd get an update on the trial or it would be an update in the newspaper. It wasn't part of the main story.

The worrying thing is that I remember it so clearly and at that time I rarely drank anything stronger than tea.

Maybe that's what the problem was.

*Sound of cork popping*

Oops, didn't finish. The problem is that the memory is inextricably mixed up with a wig made from newspaper, an ocarina and a midget with a magic shadow which is definitely The Book of Ultimate Truths.

As you say, I must have had 2 books on the go at the same time. Wish I knew what the other one was though.

I think I may be closer to unravelling the mystery. I saw my friend who lent me 'The book of ultimate truths' today and he said that he lent me either 'Only Forward' or 'Spares' (Michael Marshall Smith) at the same time. So if anybody can remember the Hitler gag being in one of those two, it would be a great relief to my sanity.

It's not one of mine, I know that. I was actually supposed to meet up with Michael Marshall Smith last week, but couldn't. But I will see him this Wednesday evening, I'll ask him for you.
