Please post your comments and photos and whatever else related to the signing tour here.....

First post-launch day yesterday - Durham in the afternoon and Newcastle in the evening. I was at the Newcastle one along with Stacey and Jackin_your_box (aka Scotty) and a whole bunch of others who may or may not turn up here at some point!

Great night - ended up monopolising the comfy side-room at The Bacchus after the signing for some lovely beer and some of the highest quality toot in ages. Stacey and I astounded many folks with tales of past Sproutlore events (all true folks, really!), and everyone swapped stories of famous people we'd met (Sir Ian McKellen sitting in on his friend's book signing at Waterstones, Stacey giggling for 25 minutes straight while Simon Pegg tried to impress her, etc.) - at which point John from Orion blew everyone else out of the water with his tales of abusing hobbits and dancing with Andie MacDowell at the LOTR premiere party. Robert told us of the time he fell on top of Boy George getting out of a taxi, and how he was present when Queen (the band) were named, by someone who then completely forgot that they'd been responsible for the suggestion.

John from Orion said that Newcastle had set a very high bar for the rest of the tour.

So - follow that you lot!

Oh, and if you have photos but can't get them posted here, feel free to email me through my profile and I'll sort 'em out.

Sounds like a great night Gaz, shame Robert's only doing a signing in Liverpool and I can't get to Manchester for the nearest talk. What's Manchester offer that Liverpool doesn't? Bloody Mancs Laughing

Better hotels if John is anything to go by - he said that for the Derby / Nottingham one, the thing that dictated that is the afternoon one and Nottingham is the evening one was the better hotel in Nottingham..... Very Happy

I is not surprised - you were proper steaming by the time we left, the poor girl from Waterstones looked a bit scared after your rant about the children's section being in the basement.... she was canny though, just realised I didn't get her name, but she deserves kudos for getting Rob back to Newcastle for the first time in 4 and a half years!

I love you Andi. I fear the former is probably truer - had this gorgeous beer last night called Dark Munro from the Orkney brewery (I think!) bloody lovely, nicest beer I've had in ages!

I'm just about to feed the dog, then we're off to York for the lunchtime signing. Will report back on my return... Grin

I especially liked your impression of the Waterstones staff....

Stacey (doing snooty voice of Waterstones staff) : Welllll you can leave your buggy upstairs, or we might be able to find someone to hel carrehhhh it down the staaaaaairs.

Stacey (own voice) : Well thank you very f*cking much!

Waterstones girl across table : *stunned*

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
