I don't know if this is valid in the UK, but over here Mastercard is having a contest to write your own "priceless" ad. I was planning to enter, and I had the text all worked out, but it turns out you have to match it to their visuals. Boo hoo. Since I can't share my genius with the world, I will at least share it with the people who will understand.

Airplane ticket - $415.00
Hotel Room - $220.00
Plastic Spear - $4.00

Dressing up like a Viking and boozing all night with a bunch of weird British people you've never met - Priceless!

New Suit - 400
Funeral with box and all the trimmings - 2120
Buffet with 200 guests - 370

Allowed access through the pearly gates into heaven with no debts or responsibilities - Priceless!

Good one.

How about:

Bus to centre of Brighton - 2.80
Bag of rice - 50p
Umbrella - 5

The sadistic pleasure you get as all the seagulls explode - priceless.

It was indeed fab and I'll do it again as soon as I've saved up the money. I probably shouldn't be making MasterCard commercials anyway, as I've cut up all mine. Living within my means is a challenge, but I am determined.

Well maybe not the pigeons but DEFINATELY kill all seagulls.

They have heat seeking sludgy missiles that never miss their target.

They scavange food of unsuspecting members of the public.

They KNOW that sitting perched over the edge of every building ledge and lamppost makes everyone nervous.

War on terror? If that were true then we all know where the US Army should be - Churchill Square!

Why?
Just because I hate a certain animal doesn't make me evil.

I think everyone has had their fill of the bastards.

If you've ever been attacked or crapped on by one then you will feel the same way I do.

Hate is the path to the Dark Side..... Wink

Just because you hate something, why should you want to kill all examples of it? I find that level of hatred rather disturbing.

Lets pretend that instead of seagulls randomly attacking and constantly crapping on people, it was say, giant mutated crabs, wouldn't you feel a lot better having severely diminished their numbers?

Plus the dark side for me was the correct side to be on. They are the ones who truly knew how to feel emotions, they weren't emotionless beings hell bent on doing one thing, that was the jedis who were like that. The sith weren't evil, if anything they cared too much.

Um, possibly, but they're not crabs are they, they're just seagulls. They don't threaten your life, so why should you want to end theirs so badly? If it was a case of your life or the seagulls then you may be justified, but wanting to kill ALL seagulls just because a few of them have crapped on you (and it's not as if they even do it on purpose) seems a little OTT to me.

Um, they were also fictional, let's not forget that. Wink

At the risk of getting in trouble with Lisa, which is a truly scary prospect, I have to say this. Please, sing along if you're inclined. I already know that I'll be singing it all day.

Spring is here, Spring is here
Life is skittles and life is beer
I think the loveliest time of the year
Is the Spring, I do, don't you? Course you do

But there's one thing that makes Spring complete for me
And makes every Sunday a treat for me

All the world seems in tune on a Spring afternoon
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park
Every Sunday you'll see my sweetheart and me
As we poison the pigeons in the park

When they see us coming, the birdies all try and hide
But they still go for peanuts, when coated with cyanide.

The sun's shining bright
Everything seems alright when we're
Poisoning Pigeons in the Park

We've gained notoriety
And caused much anxiety
In the Audobon society
With our games

They call it impiety
And lack of propriety
And quite a variety
Of unpleasant names

But it's not against any religion
To want to dispose of a pigeon

Sooooooo if Sunday you're free
Why don't you come with me
And we'll Poison the Pigeons in the Park

And maybe we'll do
In a squirrel or two
While we're Poisoning Pigeons in the Park

We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment
Except for the few we take home to experiment

My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strychnine
We feed to a pigeon
- It just takes a smidgeon!
To Poison a Pigeon in the Park
