*cough* Well I've only lived here three weeks, and I spent the majority of the first one very drunk. But I know a few good pubs and stuff already Very Happy

Derby is a magical place where the logical place to put the train station is in what appears to be a industrial estate.

It'd be fantastic if our train station was in the industrial estate, pretty much everything would be pefectly placed then, as it stands only my workplace is there, and the station is a bit of a walk in the other direction.

Just so folks know, I have had some less cryptic info from Ian. I won't divulge the details, only to say that we do indeed need to hold off planning specifc dates for Derby until the next official event is formally announced, to avoid a clash. But we can still do it, maybe just in February rather than January.

So that's TWO events to look forward to in the new year (and hopefully both before March for the benefit of Mr. & Mrs. Owl and the wee dugs...) :!

Well clearly Roberts (maybe not so big 30) book signing tour is planned for Jan

& depending exactly what the Jan Club thing turns out to be.

Maybe if Robert still has Derby on the signing tour it could be combined with a Derby drink for some folks?

Liking the sound of that Andi, let's see what the dates are. Otherwise I'd say early to mid Feb is looking like the best timing.

Yep, I'm one of those annoying freshers at the moment that ask strangers where on earth I am as Derby seems to be laid out illogically. And then get very drunk and laugh like an idiot at my bf who nearly has a heart attack at the price of the yellow cabs. They are very expensive at night time. And we've been put up in the middle of nowhere, Lonsdale Hall if you know it. But there is a very good pub to person ratio here Very Happy

There is a train station mainline, and Derby is not far From Nottingham.

Not being deliberately obtuse guys and gals Wink There is an event planned, as has been stated, in January to celebrate the book launch. At present most of the arrangements are set in wet cement but we hope to go firm (there's a metaphor to play with) as soon as dates are confirmed. I will post a general announcement the instant this happens as I do appreciate the more notice you all get the better (train booking cost etc being an advantage if plenty of lead time given).
Watch this space, and others.

Ian Very Happy

For those in doubt click this link & zoom out to see where Derby is:

Yes I go by on Uttoxeter New Road quite often. I went to Derby University myself 10 years or so ago - & I'm still here...

derby?? holders of the worst ever points total in premier league history... 11 points from 38 games last season... 1 win 8 draws and a whopping 29 defeats... relegated with 6 games to spare, dear god it was funny to watch the goal difference plummet!!

As fascinating as that is, probably not the best topic of pub conversation at any future Derby-based event..... Wink
