Hi everyone

I know a lot of you know this already, but I wanted to put it in writing as I know it has always been a dream of Roberts...

"The Brightonomicon" (in re-edited format) is being aired for 13 weeks on the national DAB digital & online radio station BBC7. The series can be heard every Saturday evening at 6:30pm (& repeated 6 hrs later at 12:30am). It starts on 23rd August and ends on 15th November.

The eps are reduced in length to fit the BBC's duration of 28mins 30secs...so maybe you can have some fun trying to spot the cuts? The last 5 eps in particular are very different due to the amount I had to remove.

I am very excited about all the promos and trails and extra stuff the BBC are throwing at the series, plus hearing Robert's name being plugged on the national station for 13 weeks. I really hope we are able to bring a ton of new fans over from the radio. The slot gets about 350,000 listeners so it all adds up rather nicely.

If you don't have a DAB digital radio, you can still tune in:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7

...and if you have access to the iPLayer (online or via things like Virgin Media) then you can hear it that way as well.

So here it is....the first (and by no means the last) Robert Rankin full-cast audio series on the BBC...congratulations Robert, it may have taken a while, but I hope you enjoy the experience.

Please tell all your friends to tune in.

Neil Smile

Thank you so very much, Neil, you have no idea how much this means to me.
But then again perhaps you do, as I tell you so often.
It is indeed a dream come true, I knew no one would ever make a movie of my stuff and probably not a TV show either, but if I could just crack radio, then Wooooooooooooo! as you might put it.
And wooooo it is indeed.
Brilliant.

Well done all involved. Very Happy

There's a message board on the BBC 7 site I think we should all join, and start posting to raise awareness before it starts Smile OK, it's a slow board, but we could speed it up Wink

I've already pinched the log in name BarrySprout. Barry

What a great idea...let's remember that the BBC are very easily offended/weirded out/scared so if you do post there, keep it positive and fabulous! The best are to post is within the 7th Dimension forum:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbbbc7/F2574420

...where I see someone has already started a thread (and it wasn't me!)

Hurrah for the Rankinator, taking over the BBC one network at a time Smile

Everyone knows that all the greatest TV shows of past 10 years have started off on the radio,
Next step should be a show on BBC 3 then it will move to BBC1.

now I have said me 2 peneth I am off down the Magpie to pull pints of Large.

Well congratulations indeed, both to Robert and to Neil. A job well done. I am really pleased that the Beeb are putting it on the radio, Its high time the BBC started doing things like that again. Its been far too long since Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. We needed another great, humourous author on the radio. I look forward to hearing many more Rankin plays on the Beeb Wink

I am getting VERY excited about this. On Saturday my wife is playing in one of the bands in the steel band competition in Hyde Park and I will be there with my little portable DAB radio jobbie with headphones. I'll bet I will be the only person in Hyde Park tuned to Radio 7 at 6.30.
I'm taking a fold-out camping chair and some beer.
Oh what bliss! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
