Can spoilers be added to posts? (to heighten the tension of threads even further )
If so, how does one go about it - sorry I know less than my dog regarding BBcode and all that....
Cheers

I'm not quite sure I understand the question.
A spoiler is a piece of information that someone who has not yet read a book or seen a film etc. would potentially rather not yet know, or a device for interfering with airflow and reducing lift.
Is there some other meaning that I'm missing? _________________ |

I think he's asking about ways of keeping the spoiler text hidden until users highlight it or click the "reveal spoiler" type button as I've seen in other forums. _________________ A Random Me

Yep, on some boards you can put "spoiler" tags round a block of text, and the post shows a link that reveals the text when clicked.
It's not part of the BBCode for this forum as standard, but there may be a plug-in for it like the video one. Will check. _________________

Failing that, colouring it to match the background text of the forum would do his job, which might be clever given the alternating nature of it on posts. _________________ A Random Me

Ah, I see. That would be handy. _________________ |

Yes, there are upgrades for phpBB forums which means you can wrap spoiler text in tags, a bit like the [img] or [quote] tags.
I assume the admin types on here are aware of www.phpbb.com as a resource for upgrady type stuff, but www.phpbbhacks.com is another good place for that type of thing. |

Only the almighty James has the power to apply anything that requires changes to the source on the server. No doubt he was aware. _________________ |

As far as I'm aware, phpBB upgrades don't need mySQL access, I believe it's something you can do via the admin panel. However, as I've not been an admin on a phpBB board for well over six months, I may be wrong. |

Yep, but installing mods does require EasyMod, which requires a seperate password, which only James has.
And anyway, we leave that kind of thing up to James out of sheer respect, coz he is God. _________________

If you can find a suitable mod for phpBB 2, I'll have a look at it. Not promising anything, mind you.

Try here. Also has a link on the second page but I'm not a member of the forums so can't view it. |
