Hi,

Just tried to send a PM (my fisrts, so could be user error) and got this:

"Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server. "

Any ideas?

Thanks.

sounds very much like a problem with the ''smtp'' and ''pop'' settings.

If it was to me, I got it! I keep getting the same message, but as people still reply I don't worry too much and figure it is just having the technical equivolent of a brain fart.

Yep, the error doesn't mean that the PM has failed.

It's just that when you send someone a PM, the server tries to send them an email to tell them they've got a PM - it's this part that's failing. James is aware of the problem.

Hi there,

Sorry guys, only spotted this now. I have a solution, but it's a little complicated to implement. These messages should be disappearing in the next couple of weeks.

James
