As you know my better half suffers from panic attacks and agoraphobia, does anyone know of any work at home sites, schemes etc? Anything to keep her mind active (shes bored shitless) and earn some pennies. I can't find anything other than these silly get rich quick schemes or sticking catalogues through doors and taking orders.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Oh she's fluent in French too and tried a translating site but that does not turn up much

Cheers peeps

If she's good at translating French, she could stick adverts in local papers, and set up her own translation service, operating by email - i.e. someone emails her a letter or document, she translates it, sends it back. All you need is an email address and a PayPal account for payment... Could also offer a service to students to proof read French assignments - I knew someone at Uni who did this and made a few pennies out of 1st year language students.

You're right though - It does seem that most homeworking schemes are more "work FROM home" than "work AT home" - i.e. they involve going out at some point.

There's a few adverts in the newsagents and Friday Ad here offering extra tutoring for kids doing their French GCSE's and A levels, maybe that would be an idea?

Setting up a website is something that is very easy to do, but difficult to do well. If you've never done one before, to be honest I'd advise against it at this stage. You really don't need one anyway - there are so many professional translation companies out there that your website probably wouldn't even be seen by many people.

Better to stick with email, and promoting it through adverts in local classified sections etc. Some of these have websites and you can get your advert online that way.

Try Thompson Local for example:

Cheers again, think we tried someone like that and as per most of the benefit/advice lot they were about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike (first time she was diagnosed with agarophobia they invited her down for an interview!!) That one might be different so will give them a tinkle (as in phone call not as in wee)

Cheers folks thanks again
