I was re-reading Sex and Drugs and Sausage rolls last weekend. I've always liked the book and re reading it is like sitting down and having a chat with an old friend.
Something bugged me this time.
I remember 1980 quiet well. I was 11 at the time and remember my father coming home and telling me John Lennon was shot. His next line was, oh by the way happy birthday, as december 8th was indeed my birthday.
in the book Lennon survives. saved by a fan. But then the queen gets killed at the beatles concert also in 1980.
now can someone explain to me how you can arrange an outdoor concert in less than 22 days, in the middle of winter. plus add in recovery time for mr lennon, after all the poor blighter did get shot.
any ideas anyone? _________________ http://www.fourpints.com

The time of year makes little difference, if i had a potential Beatles gig I could have it up and running inside a week I reckon. _________________ I always use the cue sheets but never the nets. |

I have to be honest with you Dave, It didn't really happen. It was a work of fiction. I made it all up.
I'm having a Rolling Stones gig in my garden next week, I must get some posters printed, |

Sex and drugs, a brilliant book....
i recall talking to robert one time, and we were talking about time travel. We were in a bar in Dublin, and drukenly i said that if i had been blessed with the gift of time travel, i'd go back and save Mr Lennon. i don't know if i'd have taken the bullet(s) for him but save him i most derfinately would.
and the rest, as they say is history.
We were, of course, all very drunk.

And Dave, we all know that in the book it was only a flesh wound. He probably did the Neo thing and dodged the bullets _________________ Lost a planet Master Obi-Wan has. How embarrassing. |

Whereas if I'd had the gift of time travel I'd have used it to take lennon's assassin back to the week before he recorded "imagine" _________________ |

Lennon himself might have only guest-starred, depedning on his state, I forget the events, but if he was totally unwounded it'd just be a matter of settling his nerves. And it could have been a concert as a "huzzah, I'm not dead" special event celebration surely. _________________ A Random Me

Also perhaps a gesture of defiance to all his detractors. |

Although a certain Mr Robert Marley played a gig very shortly after being shot, tellin the crowd that to cancell and not to play would have been giving in to the shadow and allowing fear to win
Altho i wasn't there and so am ad libbing on his behalf

I've often wondered - if Lennon hadn't died, would HE have recorded the Frog Chorus, and spent half his dwindling fortune on bergundy hair dye?
