I feel the next book should be written witha ray-gun pen, or would do were it not for the excessive cost. Yes, it's pretty, but that's still around a hundred pounds for a pen.

Yes, raygun pen a tad expensive and rather too modern-looking for my tastes, I am presently making badges out of small radio valves. I think I have found my home in Steampunk Lane.

Hm, maybe small enough to nick when you're not looking. I'd make my own but I fear I have the artistic capabilities of an arthritic macaque.

Loved the raygun by the way. How long does it take you to knock up something like that?

Hello Jim, I suppose it really took about four days to actually construct it. It was finding all the bits that was the hard part. But now I know where to look and I plan more things. For the cover of the book after Retromancer, (The Japanese Devil Fish Girl and Other Unnatural Attractions), a steampunk style Samurai helmet with the lovely wife made up as a geisha, wearing it.
There must be some excuse to make steampunk high-heeled shoes, eh?
Or perhaps no excuse is needed.

Bet the publishers make you change that one. Good title though.

Sounds like a good cover too. And I'm impressed with the way you can look at a hookah (careful with the spelling there) and think "that would make a good business end of a raygun".

I think no excuse is needed for the shoes. Bet that doesn't come as a surprise to you.
