|
|
I wrote an article about Robert Rankin and music in US fanzine, Challenger 27, using quite a few previous articles from Sproutlore members.
You can find it here, http://www.challzine.net/ in issues 27.
Its just gone online, and thought it might be of interest, bit disappointed about the images, BUT the words are good and include something by the master himself.
Enjoy

Its mostly by all the other contributors, who over the years have done some great articles and reportage for the mercury, but I must admit I was rather
surprised by the massive music connection that RR has, its much more significant when its all in one place.

Spiffin' article! A most enjoyable half-hour's read and a new mission in life! To whit: find every damned song mentioned in the article. A pleasantly futile task that should distract me from far more important things. _________________ Everywhere I go I hear what's going on - and the more I hear, the less I know... |

Bah! But that would actually accomplish the task and it'd no longer be futile! Then I'd have to do real work. _________________ Everywhere I go I hear what's going on - and the more I hear, the less I know... |

Some swine nicked my copy of Rot in Hell, Ma, by the Kray Cherubs. Or perhaps the fairiies took it, they took my favourite tie. There's tons more about music in the forthcoming book, so you'll have to update the article, James.
I'm off to bed now,, because I have to be up early.
To go to Brentford.
And DO MUSIC! |

I have a small update on the Kray Cherubs Rot in Hell Mom info
I have 2 copies <----nearest I can find to smug grin
and the covers are different so are the discs and the poster inside
I have 210 of 300 this is ss002 in black print with a yellow/cream label on the disc
art devil: Gary Panter
Art Dragnut: Mr Chainsaw
and 62 of 300 this is ss004 repressed in purple print with a silver label on the disc (the disc itself is still numbered ssoo2)
Art Devil: Gary Painter
Art Dragpig: Mr Chainsaw
the Snakeskin logo also differs I may post a pic of both versions at some stage.
Both were bought off ebay in a 2 week period so copies are out there.
I am now only missing the Magic Muscle track and Sonic Energy Authority track, Allthough I met the very nice Cardinal Cox at the forbiden Planet signing and got his buisness card so a groveling type letter may be writen. _________________ You may think its fiction, I live in Brentford so know its fact. |

Happy in the world is one of the best tracks you can play if you are tripping. And I suspect that it was written for that very purpose .There's a Lost T Shirts facebook fansite . I joined. |
