I have to admit that even I, the arch Trek hater, was impressed by the trailer. Hopefully it is not the usual hollywood trailer that has every good bit in the film, and the rest of the movie is dross. |

I think it was SFX that said the canon-police are going to go nuts over it - rumour of Klingons & Romulans being featured, the Enterprise apparently being built in a field in Iowa rather than an orbital shipyard etc.... But who cares, it looks like great fun. _________________

The first teaser trailer came out over year ago and made one all tingly... Sylar was cast as Spock another all tingly moment...
Then again Cloverfield and MI:3 were utter bloated cack. Still, as long as it ain't the plodding pedestrian, soulless and un-atmospheric banality of the TNG films and everything else post Undiscovered Country/All Good Things... it should be OK. _________________

Again we disagree over movies Mr. Nyx. First Contact is one of my favourite films. Although the stuff after that has been a bit weak I'll grant you. _________________ |

I adore TNG, but the films completely failed to deliver on the potential permitted by being freed from having to wrap it all up in 45 minutes. A TNG equivalent of ST:2,3,4 was what was required, perhaps Picard showing he was warior and diplomat keeping the Klingons on side as the Federation forges an uneasy alliace with the Romulans to repulse a full on CGI heavy war against the Borg.
First Contact was OK, but did little to make up for pointlessly destroying the Probert gorgeous Enterprise D because of the switch from ILM to CGI.
Nemesis was watch-able tosh, but the director showed utter contempt for his audience, a stoned hedgehog could direct with more flair and art. _________________

I really like First Contact, it's one of those films I'll always just sit and watch if it's on - easy to watch, good mix of action, doesn't require a huge amount of thought. I also liked Insurrection, which nobody ever seems to mention any more...... Nemesis was a bit of a let down for me, some great bits, but not a great film overall. _________________

Possibly because Insurrection is the second worst Trek film made after Final Frontier?
First Contact has it moments, but for my tastes at least it 's pretty soulless and unatmospheric in large parts - mostly those parts were shoe in some American ism and warm fuzzies. At least the humour of the film is good. _________________

To be fair, I think Picard kind of kills the action and adventure element...I mean he's following all the rules and shit. _________________ God is in the detail...Or is that still classed as Panspermia..I think it is! |
