.
A friend is selling some interesting collectable stuff on eBay at the moment. Please bid generously, so his kid gets fed & watered without being sold into sex slavery. Or something.

Shame to sell all those signed books.

I wonder if authors generally feel uneasy about signing books if they think they'll just end up enhancing resale value?

With some of the stuff that's gone on lately with my books, I'm determined to sign no more for dealers! And I'm still battling to get every Necrophenia proof off ebay before it's sold. But it's not easy, and ebay itself won't stop them. So, if any of you feel like emailing the sellers (there's two up there now) and asking them to take them down, perhaps together we can stop the swine!

This is why I only have books I've had signed personally at the time (and personalised), though at most signings I have picked up extras for friends that can't make it.

Me too! I remember a nice bloke who did a signing in Bournemouth a few years ago and happily signed all the books I'd brought along (about 25 hardbacks and paperbacks) and all bar one was signed and personalised (that one was a hardback of his first book which he advised me not to have personalised as it would be worth more like that, not that I intend to sell it.)
Nice bloke he was, Robert something-or-other by name.

One of them sold this morning for 20.20! In a way I'm glad the seller only made 20, might encourage them not to be so greedy in future. In another way I'm incensed to think that people believe such a fine piece of work is only worth twenty quid!
