It's not a swear word Lisa, well not by most people's standards. I believe the word is a name.

A Mr. P*******t. First name Terrence.

Berry, I keep meaning to tell you that I found a word that is innocent in England and naughty in America. It's slut, which over there means slob but over here means whore.

Really? We just had a discussion on my Coronation Street forum where an Englishwoman used it to mean slob and didn't realize how it sounded to the Americans. And I was so happy that I'd finally found a word for you, Berry. Unfair! Crying or Very sad

The usage is diluting. Some years ago, slut solely meant an - ahem - lady of loose morals, but it became used so often as an exageration when applied to someone of general slovenliness that it's become used synonymously with slattern.

See, I don't only know about cheese. Grin
